Parental resources and child abuse and neglect

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze whether child maltreatment is influenced by the socio-economic circumstances of parents. The premise that children are more likely to be maltreated if their parents have fewer resources was examined. Results indicated that socioeconomic circumstances influence the incidence of child maltreatment. Findings also showed that states with higher incomes have lower rates of child abuse and neglect.
