The UK market for chilled pot desserts is forecast to expand by just under 12% in value in 1998 from 1997 to 506 million pounds sterling. There has been a decline in new product development in the fromage frais sector, but fromage frais is now firmly established as an alternative to yogurt. It is anticipated that chilled pot desserts will continue to be the most rapidly expanding sector of the desserts market, with total market growth of almost 40% by the year 2002.
