Appeasement: can it work?
Article Abstract:
Appeasement can deter the economic costs of war if the aggressor can be convinced that war will be costly and peace will advantageous. In 1938, the allies attempted to appease Germany by allowing the Germans to seize parts of Czechoslovakia. This miscalculation allowed Germany time to build up its forces.
