Adult soft drinks sales have grown in value by 344% since 1992 to an estimated total of 240 million pounds sterling in 1997. Adult soft drinks, comprising herbal drinks, fruit drinks and flavored waters, have been purchased by 88% of 15-24 year-olds. Diet fruit drinks are particularly popular with young women. Adults like to consume soft drinks as an alternative to alcohol.
