Plastic is the material which is most used by packaging soft drinks and mineral waters. In France, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) represents 63% of the carbonated soft drink market, and polyvinyl chloride and PET hold a 77% share of still soft drinks and 85% of mineral water, compared with 15% for return glass bottles. However, cartons hold a 78% share of the milk market, compared with 22% for plastic bottles. Cartons also hold a 53% share of the fruit juice and nectars market, followed by glass bottles with 29.3%. For use in the delivery of water bottles to large retailers, the Evian-Volvic company (Danone) has chosen Chep returnable pallets. These pallets will be returned to the group's plants via road or rail. Two models were chosen: 1,000 x 1,200mm and 600 x 1,000mm.
