France: A new packing plant for Pecheur de Collioure

Article Abstract:

The Pecheur de Collioure company, located at Saint-Esteve in the Pyrenees Orientales departement, is building a new packing plant in order to increase its daily production from 300 kg to one tonne. The company specialises in packing anchovies in trays sous vide, and it markets its products in fifty regional stores. Its objective for 2002 is to make EUR 762,000 in turnover, double its present turnover.

IFOP carried out a survey of 500 French companies in the packaging industry for CEP Exposium. Of those companies surveyed 59% had an order book which was fuller than in 1996; 49% said that the sales price was stable, and 35% said that it was lower. Of the companies surveyed, 64% posted growth in turnover in 1997, compared with 56% in 1996, and 45% posted a rise in net earnings. *

FRANCE: BIODEGRADABLE FOOD PACKAGING

The Biopacking company is going to invest FFr 94mn in the construction of a biodegradable food packaging production unit at Buxieres-les-Mines in the Allier departement. It makes biodegradable food packaging from starch and cellulose. This unit will produce 600 to 650mn trays, meal trays, yogurt pots, drink cups and bags given at checkout stands under the Apak brand.
