Loc Maria, the Breton biscuit company, has decided to switch from metal cans to cardboard or plastic boxes in order to reduce pollution at the source. These are lighter, with 135 grams for a carton, and 205 grams for plastic, compared with 400 grams for a metal can, resulting in 66% or 49% less packaging weight for Loc Maria. The second advantage in switching materials, is that it saves space and transport costs since around 2,400 cardboard boxes can be placed on a pallet compared with 540 cans.
