FRANCE: AUCHAN'S PLASTIC BASKET SYSTEM

Article Abstract:

Auchan, the French retail group, has tested a system of plastic baskets on its shopping carts in three of its stores, at Aubagne, Osny, and Issy-les-Moulineaux, for several years. The purpose of this system is to reduce the handling of products between the store and one's home where these full containers can be placed directly in one's cupboards. Consumers pay FFr 11 to FFr 12 per container.

FRANCE: AUCHAN LE MANS CERTIFIED ISO 14001

Article Abstract:

The Le Mans based Auchan is the first French store to be awarded the ISO 14001 environmental certificate. Thus the store has committed itself to continuous improvement procedures for waste recycling and the prevention of pollution. The certificate is all the more important for Auchan as it enables it to both improve its waste management and look after its image.

FRANCE: CRYOVAC EOM LAUNCHED

Article Abstract:

Cryovac has introduced Cryovac EOM, a line of polyester co-extruded laminates with a high barrier. Designed for packaging cheese, the EOM line can also be used on form-fill machines at high speeds.
