Article Abstract:

UK students need to exercise caution when selecting a bank account. Some banks offer attractive incentives to potential student customers, but then make high charges if the account goes overdrawn. It is important to arrange overdrafts in advance, as costs for unauthorised overdrafts can be very high. However, student bank accounts can be cheaper in the long term than ordinary bank accounts.
