Storing up trouble

Article Abstract:

Store cards offered by UK retailers operate in the same way as ordinary credit cards, although they can only be used in a limited range of shops. The user receives a statement every month detailing the purchases made, and will pay no interest as long as the balance is paid in full within the interest-free period. In some cases, retailers allow customers to pay a fixed monthly sum, regardless of whether the card has been used or not. Store cards usually have much higher interest rates than ordinary credit cards.
