Microwave ovens with a grill and combination microwaves with a grill and an oven offer a wide range of features. However, there is variation between models in the number and type of automatic programs. For most automatic programs, the user simply enters the type of food and the quantity, with the oven calculating the best way to cook it and for how long. The best microwaves with a grill include the Matsui Quartz Grill M263G and the Sanyo EM-G4050, while the best combination microwaves include the Sharp R-962(W)M and the Panasonic Dimension 4 NN-C877 W.

The Sanyo Super Showerwave is a basic model and offers ease of use and good defrosting ability. Other products recommended include the Sharp Compact R-210A(w)M, Panasonic Genius NN-5856, Panasonic Micro and Browner NN-K354, the Sanyo Super Showerwave EM-G403, and the Panasonic Dimension 4NN-B756.
