Article Abstract:
Ice cream makers costing 40 or 50 pounds sterling use a special bowl which must be placed in the freezer overnight before making the ice cream. Those costing about 200 pounds sterling have integral freezing units. Both make satisfactory ice cream, although the cheaper ones do not make good ice cream containing alcohol and the ice cream may need hardening in the freezer. The Magimix Le Glacier 11031 and the Philips HR 2300 were recommended cheaper models and the Ariete Gelatiera Compact 692 was recommended as one with a freezing unit. The Gaggia Gelatiera failed safety tests.
