Large car safety

Article Abstract:

A series of crash tests were undertaken on 13 large family cars, simulating two common types of accident, front and side impacts. The cars were rated t reflect overall levels of protection for the occupants, with the lowest score one, a category none of the cars came into. The highest score was four, and the Volvo S40 was the only car to achieving that rating. Other cars tested included the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Citroen Xantia and Mercedes C-Class, which all received two stars, and the Nissan Primera, Ford Mondeo, Renault Laguna and Vauxhall Vectra, which all received three stars.

Article Abstract:

An evaluation of 67 different models of car according to their security features is presented. Windows remain a serious weak point on almost all models, as the toughened glass can be easily broken. Laminated glass offers a much higher level of security.
