Article Abstract:
The 1996-1999 Toyota 4Runner models weigh less and come equipped with stronger engines. On-the-road performance is more relaxed compared to previous models, especially when towing a trailer or hauling a full load of people and cargo. Acceleration with the V-6 engine is brisk in city driving, but highway passing is more ordinary. Engine and tire noise are less noticeable than before, space is ample for up to five adults and the cars feel solid on rough pavement.

Article Abstract:
Mitsubishi's 1994-1999 Montero models may be considered one of the better- riding 4x4 vehicles and are even more stable in corners than their predecessors. Virtues include four-wheel drive traction, passenger space, cargo room, quietness, ride and acceleration with the 215-horsepower engine. Drawbacks include fuel economy, entry/exit and acceleration with the 151-horsepower engine. However, it is not as car-like as a number of other sport-utility rivals.
