1993-97 Dodge Intrepid

Article Abstract:

Acceleration is adequate with 3.3-liter V-6 engines in DaimlerChrysler Corp's 1993-1997 Dodge Intrepid models but is not sufficiently snappy for quick passing. Thus, the early Dodge Intrepid ES models are a better choice with the larger V-6 engine and touring suspension employing 16-inch tires. These early ES models deliver fine, overall performance, including precise handling and cornering. However, beware of the ES with optional Performance Handling Group, which yields a stiffer ride.

1994-97 Honda Passport

Article Abstract:

American Honda's 1994-1997 Passport models are nearly identical to automaker Isuzu's Rodeo sport utility. The Passport is a four-door wagon with lift-up rear window and fold-down tailgate. This generation provides advantages in terms of traction using optional four-wheel drive, optional anti-lock braking systems, passenger space and cargo room. However, drawbacks include noise, inability to shift on the fly and fuel economy.

1997-99 Honda CR-V

Article Abstract:

American Honda's 1997-1999 CR-V models feature car-like unibody frame and four-wheel independent suspension. These sport utility vehicles' wheel bases measure 101.3 inches, and they also have a side-opening tailgate and externally-mounted spare tire. Performance with an automatic transmission is not a virtue in this generation. However, except for a lack of power, the handy, well-built CR-V nearly approaches perfection.
