Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co's 1990-1997 Aerostar models feature four-wheel-drive systems and offer either 3.0-liter engines, which produce sufficient power, or 4.0-liter V-6 engines, which provide extra muscle. Either engine furnishes only roughly 15 mpg in city/suburban driving and little over 20 mpg on the highway. Traction can be a problem in rain or snow with rear-drive Aerostars. Ride quality is another drawback even with the long wheel base. Although these Aerostar models are stable and well controlled, their suspensions produce a rather harsh experience over bumps.

Ford Motor Co's 1992-1999 Mercury Grand Marquis models are curvaceosuly reshaped and feature standard, 190-horsepower, 4.6-liter, overhead-cam, V- 8 engines, which can produce 210 horsepower with optional dual-exhaust systems. These models provide advantages in terms of acceleration, passenger room, cargo space, dual air bags and optional anti-lock braking systems. Drawbacks in the areas of gas mileage, steering feel, climate controls and radio controls in early models were observed.

Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co's 1997-1999 Mercury Mountaineer models are essentially a duplication of the automaker's latest Ford Explorer . However, these Mountaineers were produced only as four-door wagons offering a choice of either rear-wheel drive or permanently-engaged all-wheel drive. These models feature standard dual air bags and anti-lock brakes. This generation provides advantages in terms of acceleration, passenger room, cargo space, visibility and anti-lock braking.
