'Big lumbering beast' is changing its image

Article Abstract:

Marine engine manufacturers have developed a new breed of diesel engines that are increasingly being fitted into smaller boats. Aside from being more compact, durable, powerful and fuel-efficient, these new marine diesel engines produce lower emissions than their predecessors. Boat diesel engines are expected to keep on improving as diesel technology advances even further and as demand for small diesel-power boats keeps on growing.

Express boats expanding appeal

Article Abstract:

New express boat models from Grady-White, Pursuit and Rampage combine angling top sides with true cruising comforts below. The boats are low- slung with angled superstructures and are topped by a tower. The high bow and low transom reproduce the sense of motion, even if the boat is standing still. Boat builders from Florida also offer the Palm Beach look, consisting of a soaring bow, a strong broken sheer and a fiberglass windscreen.
