West Marine, BoatU.S. to share B2B service

BoatUS and West Marine will be sharing the same e-commerce vendor and the same data format and methodology. BoatUS has contracted with SPS Commerce, the same e-commerce company used by competitor West Marine, to automate and streamline its operations. Affiliation with SPS Commerce will provide its stores with online exchanging, purchase orders, shipping notices and invoices. The affiliation will allow suppliers to connect with SPS and do business with BoatUS and West Marine.

Heart hires a manager for fishing boat sales

Article Abstract:

Fort Lauderdale, FL-based Heart Marine has named tournament fisherman Steve Gallagher as sales manager for its new division. Sportfish Div will sell Egg Harbor and Blackfin sportsfishing boats to supplement Heart Marine's existing business as the exclusive Florida dealer for Symbol Yachts. The success with the Symbol line served as the catalyst for the company's move into the sprotsfishing segment.

J-Way Enterprises

Article Abstract:

J-Way Enterprises is scheduled to open a diesel engine center in Scituate, MA, in May 2000. The center will also become the facility that will house the company's mobile service program. Meanwhile, J-Way has agreed to become the authorized dealer of Yanmar, Westerbeke, John Deere and Fisher Panda Engines and has received technical accreditation from Mack Boring and Part for diesel engine service.
