Article Abstract:

The Judge Institute of Management Studies at Cambridge University is being designed by UK architect John Outram. It will be completed by the end of 1995 at a cost of 9 million pounds sterling. Outram is renowned for his brightly coloured designs. The institute is divided into separate buildings. The 1860 listed Wyatt hospital is being incorporated into the design and the interior is being maintained. The building includes a teaching and administration block, a lecture and seminar theatre, gallery, library and computer room.

Redesigning the architect

Article Abstract:

The Royal Institute of British Architects has published the results and recommendations of the first stage of its 'Strategic Study of the Profession.' The study is based on ten reports on various aspects of the profession and an overall report by consultant, Touche Ross. It points out deficiencies in architects skills and awareness of the changing nature of the construction industry and recommends the profession concentrates on its design skills and service to clients.
