Successful operation

Article Abstract:

The UK construction industry has generally expressed great relief that the government has decided to go ahead with hospital construction projects worth 1.5 billion pounds sterling before the end of 1998. The government has undertaken a review of 43 acute hospitals, and has named 14 schemes which can now move towards a financial arrangement with their private finance initiative consortia. However, the construction industry is concerned that the government will not make any compensation available to private finance initiative consortia involved in the 23 schemes which have been postponed.
