The Internet start-up company offers a service that analyzes visitors and marketing on e-commerce Web sites by summarizing shopping and transaction trends, studying shoppers' behavior and providing details on product movement. The firms that are rejecting Coremetrics' claim to be the first to provide such a service include WebSideStory Inc and NetGenesis Corp.

E-greetings Network of San Francisco, CA, reported that it has added 1.4 million names to its registered database in the last five weeks. The number has boosted its membership to 1.8 million since it started giving away electronic greeting cards for free on Nov 21, 1999. E-greetings is aiming to use enhanced e-mail to make the firm a hub of electronic commerce. The company adds 20,000 to 30,000 names a day to its database through its www.egreetings.com.site

Internet couponing firm CoolSavings.com Inc of Chicago, IL, is offering its database of 1.4 million households to consumer packaged goods manufacturers such as Procter and Gamble and Unilever. The company said that packaged-good makers can tap its detailed, member-supplied demographic data to deliver targeted offers to its Web site and to onsite members' mailboxes. CoolSavings members can then download coupons, rebates and other offers redeemable either online or in stores.
