There is a shortage in yacht crews, which industry observers say will only exacerbate as more megayachts are launched. Nelly Greene, crew placement coordinator for Crew Network, say these jobs are an excellent opportunity for younger people who still do not know what they exactly want to do. Greene adds that being part of a yacht crew is a chance for these people to receive good pay and to travel. The Superyacht Society also holds seminars in boat shows to attract potential crew members.

S2 Tiara Yachts Inc, a boat manufacturer based in Holland, MI, has voluntarily begun recalling several models of its Pursuit and Tiara boat brands in 1999. As of Oct 2000. the company reports that it has completed the inspection and, if necessary, the repair of most of the 813 affected boats. These boats were found to collect stagnant water that corrode the aluminum gas tanks, thus causing leaks. The problem was caused by water not properly routed to the boat's bilge pump.
