SeaVee Boats has added an ultra-modern facility in its Miami plant to increase output from 60 to a projected maximum of 110 boats per year. The plant expansion, according to company owner Ariel Parel, is just enough for the boat builder to improve plant capacity, yet still allow the company to closely control production and workmanship. Meanwhile, SeaVee revealed that it is starting the construction of a facility that wll house its Prototype Dept, the division in-charge of the manufacture of plugs and molds.

The boating industry registered outstanding sales results for 2nd qtr 1999. Aluminum boat sales increased byy 8.2% on a volume of 6,4552 boats in comparison with 52,184 in the same period in 1998. Overall boat sales amounted to 242,521 in the first six months of 1999. However, the slowdown in personal watercraft sales continued with a decline of 27.5% compapred to 1998 figures. Sales falloffs among the five major personal watercraft manufacturers ranged from 19% to 32%.

Burger Boat Co, a Manitowoc, WI-based boatbuilder, has entered a joint venture agreement with Dutch megayacht builder Oceanco International. The deal with the Dutch boatbuilder provides Burger Boat with the needed skills and technology for its venture into building bigger and more luxurious boats. On the other hand, the affiliation increases Oceanco's presence in the US market.
