Reservoir bogs

Article Abstract:

Housing developers in the UK are showing increasing interest in waste water recycling technology as potential purchasers become more aware of the need to conserve water, particularly as water metering becomes more widespread. Laing Homes and Gleeson Homes, for example, are considering installing systems in their new homes that can reuse water from the shower, bath and washbasin to flush the toilet. Crest Homes has gone one stage further by installing Water Dynamics' Well Butt in the show home at its development in Shenley, England.

Tea and sympathy

Article Abstract:

It is unusual for UK construction contractors to have any policies on employee welfare which go beyond the legal minimum. However, there are now some contractors and clients which are beginning to place more emphasis on employee welfare, particularly on the facilities available at construction sites. Willmott Dixon Housing, for example, is spending up to 500 pounds sterling a week on providing free hot drinks for workers at its site in Oxford, England, and is also organizing sports competitions.
