Tarrytown, NY-based Physicians' Online is seeking to help doctors manage their practices over the Internet and save time through the launching of new services, along with a host of alliances in October 1998. The Internet community of doctors is free for physicians and funded by pharmaceutical advertisers and other partners. Physicians' Online's upgrades to its service include voice-recognition technology, online ordering of pharmaceutical samples, a searchable directory of physician home pages for consumer use and more direct involvement in clinical trials. The enhancements also could enable advertisers to sponsor physician home pages on the new consumer-access site.
