The site, which was originally positioned as an e- commerce site, will be relaunched as an interactive community for girls in May 2000. It will also offer an online gift registry that will provide information on the type of gifts that they would prefer from friends and relatives.

Its target market consists of buyers of corporate gifts and awards and coaches, sports leagues, schools and nonprofit organizations. Its objective is to take advantage of the untapped inspirational product market that covers motivational, promotional and recognition products. The print catalog was mailed at the end of Apr 2000 to 900,000 businesses and organizations while the Web site, awards.com, was launched at the end of Mar 2000.

Hershey, PA-based chocolate manufacturer Hershey Foods' retailing unit Hershey's Direct plans to mail its first fall 2000 catalog on Sep 8, 2000. The unit mails variations of three core catalogs annually, with the first book covering Halloween, Thanksgiving and the winter holidays. This catalog is mailed between September through December. The second catalog, which is mailed in January and February, covers Valentine's day, while the third, which is mailed in March or April, covers the Easter holidays. The catalogs reach a total of more than 5 million customers and prospects each year.
