NCR Corp has launched a new model of automated teller machine that features a bigger screen that aims to transform the ATM channel into more than a traditional cash dispenser. The Personas 90, which is part of the company's Self-Service TouchPoints family, is a freestanding drive-up model. It has a larger, flat screen that has double the viewing area of the traditional screen. The model, along with the APTRA software, can open new revenue streams for banks and financial institutions through personalization, advertising on the larger screen and other opportunities.

Quark Inc announced in Jun 2001 that it is offering three software programs intended to help businesses analyze, plan and deploy catalogs. The three programs for catalogers and direct marketers are: Quark Merchandise Manager, a decision-support software; Quark Digital Media System, a content management program; and Quark eStage, an enterprise database publishing system, which will integrate with Quark Merchandise Manager to help catalogers streamline their strategy-to-promotion process.

West Corp, a teleservices provider headquartered in Omaha, NE, has introduced a speech recognition system in May 2001 for use in customer service call centers. The system, dubbed SpeechXchange, incorporates technology from Nuance of Menlo Park, CA, and Speechworks of Boston, MA. The company is already using the speech recognition system in its network of contact centers.
