NBA catalog keeps high-ticket focus

Article Abstract:

The National Basketball Assn's (NBA) 24-page spring/summer 2001 catalog was mailed to 750,00 consumers that include buyers from previous catalogs, shoppers at the NBA's Web site, season ticket holders and fans who had bought game tickets online. Differing slightly from previous catalogs, the spring/summer book features 140 items. It also features apparel worn by players in the 2001 NBA.com Slam Dunk Contest for $125,000. The most notable addition is a two-page spread of sale items.

MyOnlyCatalog.com makes its debut

Irvine, CA-based MyOnly Catalog.com has mailed 2 million announcements to prospects in the first week of Oct 2000 to mark its debut. The company, a service provider hosting online catalogs, has a lineup of 120 catalogs and a weekly sweepstakes prize of a $2,500 shopping spree during the holidays. MyOnlyCatalog.com has entered into agreements with over 740 catalog companies. It expects 500 catalogers to be on its Web site by the end of Oct 2000.

Requests spark sales of infomercial itself

Article Abstract:

Respond2's 30-minute infomercial for 'The Carson Collection' of 'The Tonight Show' episodes has become a big seller on its own. The company has sold more than 1,000 copies and had a 15% conversion rate, prompting the company to roll out the upsell effort nationally in Mar 2001. A few weeks after the launch of the infomercial, customers were requesting the infomercial video. The informercial includes clips from the four tapes in the collection.
