Norwalk, CT-based boatbuilder Grand Banks Yachts Ltd's Singapore-based affiliate GrandBanks Yachts is scheduled to open a new, $2.5-million facility for the construction of Grand Banks and Eastbay yachts on Jun 30, 2000 in Loyang, Singapore. The new facility will manufacture the Grand Banks 46, 52, 58 and 66 models, and the Eastbay 49 Hardtop Express and the new Aleutian Class 64-ft raised pilothouse model. GrandBanks Yachts employs 340 factory workers who annually produce about 40 boats in the 50 to 60-ft range.

Tender 2 Inc has been engaged by Dutch shipyard Van Lent to build two 40- foot fiberglass tenders for the 207-foot maxiyacht named Cakewalk. Both tenders have been designed by Murray and Assoc Inc of Fort Lauderdale, FL. The first tender measures 25 foot and is equipped for sportfishing and scuba diving. The second tender would be used for transporting guests to and from the yacht. Tender 2, also of Fort Lauderdale, FL, specializes in the construction of custom tenders for the maxiyacht industry.

Luxury yacht builder Sunseeker International has won three British awards for export from the Export Times. Co-owners Robert and John Braithwaite won the Exporter of the Year Award, while the Individual Sales Exporter of the Year Award went to Robert Braithwaite, and Sunseeker won in the major corporate category. The Poole, England-based yacht builder manufactures 250 to 300 boats each year, ranging in length from 34 to 105 ft.
