France's La Poste is forming an international global parcel delivery service to become a global player in the postal markets. The company hired Marc Wautier in 1997 to establish a parcels and logistics office. Over the year, Wautier was able to build an operation which manages pickup, delivery fulfillment and order taking with a state-of-the-art electronic system. Meanwhile, the company has also formed a Global Package Link agreement with the USPS' International Business Unit (IBU). The company is creating several services for US and other foreign direct marketers which want to enter the French market.

A French court has set hearings for Nov 2000 to decide whether it is technically possible for Yahoo.com to stop French surfers from purchasing Nazi insignia from its US Web site. The selling of Nazi insignia is illegal in France, but legal in the US. Yahoo said that it has no way of tracking the location of online buyers. The French court has ordered three experts to determine whether the blockage is feasible.

Tourism on the Internet has boomed in France mainly because it is cheaper, according to Degrifttour, which is one of the first French companies to go online. Moreover, electronic commerce allows tourist companies to easily update their electronic catalogs and modify products and prices.
