Memphis, TN-based FedEx Express is purchasing 10 A380-800F aircraft from Airbus Industrie. The Toulouse, France-based aircraft manufacturer will start delivering the planes to FedEx Express in 2008, with three deliveries annually in 2008-10 and one delivery in 2011. The aircraft will exceed the capacity of the MD-11, FedEx's current long-range intercontinental aircraft. The company expects the purchase to help it attain superior service capabilities in key international air cargo markets.

United Parcel Service of America has rolled out three new services geared towards improving mail and package delivery. The first is called Hybrid Mail that is intended for low-volume mailers that want faster First-Class mail delivery. The second, Flats, allows mailers to expedite the delivery of mail larger than a letter but smaller than a parcel. The third, dubbed UPS Presort, is a daily mail pickup service for small and midsize businesses that do not qualify for postage discounts.
