Delta drops 'air' from web name

Delta Air Lines Inc has changed its Web site name from Delta-air.com to Delta.com in hopes of increasing plane ticket sales from the Web site. According to the carrier, the change to a simpler URL will make it easier to remember and more convenient for Internet users. Delta Air is promoting its new URL by offering a 10% off round-trip tickets bought at the Web site for flights originating in the US and awarding members of its SkyMiles custome loyalty program an additional 500 miles for purchasing tickets at the site.

Singapore Airlines offers e-mail, Web service

Article Abstract:

Singapore Airlines has rolled out an in-flight satellite e-mail and Web service, which the airline says is the first of its kind on commercial aircraft. Through the service, passengers can access their e-mail and browse Web content by plugging their laptops through the seatback ports. Singapore Airlines is making the service available for free until Sep 2001 as the airline installs the service throughout its fleet. Pricing for the service has yet to be determined.
