Centricut Automation of Lebanon, NH, has adopted the name, Hypertherm Automation, after being acquired by Hypertherm Inc of Hanover, NH. Pres Richard W Cuch Jr believes that the new name reflects the company's move to accurately align its automation business with the Hypertherm brand name. In addition, its shows the company's mechanized strategy of integrating its PC-based CNC controls for thermal cutting machines with Hypertherm's plasma-cutting technologies.

Johnson Worldwide Associates Inc of Sturtevant, WI, announced that it had changed its name to Johnson Outdoors Inc and that it had consolidated its electric motor manufacturing operations. Its trading symbol on the NASDAQ exchange was also changed from JWAIA to JOUT beginning Mar 1, 2000. John Outdoors said the merger of its manufacturing operations at its Lake Electric Division in Racine, WI, to its Mankato, MN, plant is scheduled to be completed by July.

K2 Inc of Los Angeles, CA, has improved sales by 11% for the fiscal year ending Dec 31, 199, having posted net sales of $635.1 million as compared to the $574.5 million reported in 1998. The sales increase is attributed to strong sales of sporting goods, topped by the popular Ugly Stik fishing rod series, packaged rods and new product introductions. From the $635.1 million sales, K2 had a net income of $9.8 million.
