Time and technology development has changed everything and the direct marketing industry has ably adapted to these changes, and forged ahead with better quality production. The six major influences that have changed the face of direct marketing and catalogs in the past 25 years have been discussed.

Catalogs are no longer exclusively confined to the role of selling. Online catalogs have become sort of drivers of demand for a product. The outlook for catalogs and catalog companies in 2006 is discussed. The usage of Internet by mail order businesses is also discussed.
