Article Abstract:
The Canadian Marketing Assn (CMA) has developed an extensive set of guidelines regulating list and data usage on the Internet. The guidelines are intended to retain the general public's confidence on Canada's information-based marketing industry; encourage best practices; promote compliance with CMA's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice; and extend CMA's self-regulation to the database and list segment of the industry. CMA Pres John Gustavson said the guidelines would preserve the integrity of list data and protect customer privacy at the same time.
