Article Abstract:
It is believed that electronics concern Siemens will award the design-and-manage contract for its 1.1 billion pounds sterling microchip plant at Wallsend, UK, to Amec. This is likely to be the largest building contract awarded in the UK in 1995, and Amec has faced strong competition from Tarmac and Sir Robert McAlpine. Amec has impressed Siemens with its expertise in 'clean-room' technology.
