Abril boosts revenue, adds database names

Abril Group, the largest publishing and media company in Brazil, posted sales of $830 million in 1999, a 7% increase from the previous year. It also added 2.8 million new names to its DataListas consumer databank through partnership agreements with several Brazilian companies. The company, which is also the most active direct marketer in the country, owns 219 magazine titles, MTV Brazil, a cable service, a record label and the country's largest online service, UOL.
