NEC Corp of Tokyo, Japan, is promoting its Mobile Gear II handheld computer with keyboard among corporate users while making them available in the mass market through Circuit City Stores Inc. However, the firm is closely monitoring the market for palm-sized computers, which are considered high-end products and are recognized for their high performance. NEC noted that the demand for palm-sized computers is growing so rapidly that it will result in the creation of a new market category.

Toshiba Corp of Japan displayed a number of user-firendly, network-ready digital copying machines at the Fall Comdex '99 trade show in Las Vegas, NV. The digital copiers provide high image quality, reliability and productivity-enhancing options and are equipped with environmentally friendly OPC drums. They are designed for offices with large volume copying requirements and can communicate over the Internet with off-site users. Machines displayed included the DP8070 and DP6570 models.

Canon USA Inc and Canon Computer Systems Inc (CCSI) displayed their latest line of digital camcorders, Bubble Jet printers/flatbed scanners and digital still cameras at the Digital Focus '99 show in Las Vegas, NV. CCSI's BJC-8200 Bubble Jet printer provides true 1,200 x 1,200dpi and integrates Canon's Advanced Microfine Droplet technology with a four- picolitter dropsize for maximum print quality. The digital cameras displayed included the PowerShot-line S10, A50and Pro70 models.
