The management information services division of Nabisco Brands Inc. developed a new program that provides map location distances from addresses. The program was originally developed to determine the nearest company sales branch to each consumer letter received at headquarters. The program, based on a geo-coding file called LOKATE, is available to other companies. Each zip code and latitude locations, place type and size and a feature that facilitates matching company sales and cost information with data from other sources. Companies may use the program to help define sales territories, position inventories, measure market share, and develop sales.

AT&T Opportunity Calling is a production campaign that focuses upon the maintenance of existing subscribers. It offers a special credit to customers that have monthly long distance telephone charges that are over fifteen dollars. MCI is attempting to expand in the long distance telephone market by offering a lower-priced service. The company offers travel cards, WAT Service and virtual private network (VPN).
