Article Abstract:
The charge injection, transport, and light emission of a solid-state molecular electrochemiluminescent thin film of tris(2,2'-bipyridine) ruthenium(II) complex, Ru(byp)(sub 3)(ClO4)(sub 2) was investigated with tuning-fork-based scanning probe microscopy in combination with electroluminesce and current measurements as a function of potential spin. The spin-cast Ru(byp)(sub 3)(ClO4)(sub 2) thin films were shown to contain rather uniformly distributed nanostructures.

Article Abstract:
A study was conducted, by using the femtosecond and nanosecond spectroscopy, to investigate the dynamics of electron-transfer processes between bis(tetrabutylammonium) cis-bis(thiocyanato)bis(2,2'-bypiridine-4,4'-dicarboxylato)ruthenium(II) and nanostructures ZnO films. The incident photon to current conversion efficiency (IPCE) for these dye-sensitized electrodes was 36 percent in the maximum of 530 nm, corresponding to a quantum efficiency of 80 percent.

Article Abstract:
Modifications in electronic and structural aspects of RuO2 films eleroprecipitated onto Au electrodes induced by changes in the applied potential in situ in aqueous 0.50 M H2SO4 by Ru K-edge x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) are examined. The films in the reduced state contain Ru(sub 3+) sites, consistent with the electrochemical results, in a phase with apparently less order beyond the Ru-O coordination sphere than for hydrous RuO2 is suggested.
