On the origin of preferential growth of semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

The correlation between the diameters (d) of single-walled carbon nanotubes is observed and the percentages of metallic and semiconducting tubes synthesized at 600 degree Celsius by plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition. Density functional theory calculations show the differences in the heat of formation energies for similar-diameter metallic, quasi-metallic, and semiconducting nanotubes.

Thermally and molecularly stimulated relaxation of hot photons in suspended carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

The high-bias electrical properties of suspended metallic single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) are investigated at various temperatures in vacuum, in various gases, and when coated with molecular solids. The results reveal that the gas molecules surrounding suspended SWNTs assist the relaxation of hot phonons and afford enhanced current flow along nanotubes.

High-yield catalytic synthesis of thin multiwalled carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

Thin multiwalled carbon nanotubes (t-MWNTs) are synthesized using a catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) method with FeMoMgO catalyst. Critical issues for high yield synthesis of t-MWNTs are discussed in terms of reduction procedure, growth time, and gas species.
