Article Abstract:
The metal oxides are composed of the d (super 10) p-block metal ions (In [super 3+], Sn [super 4+], and Sb [super 5+]), and it is demonstrated that the p-block metal oxides with d (super 10) configuration form a new photo catalyst group different from the conventional metal oxide photo catalyst group. For the decomposition of pure water to hydrogen and oxygen, MIn2O4 (M=Ca, Sr), Sr2SnO4, and NaSbO3 were found to make stable photocatalyst when combined with RuO2.

Article Abstract:
The photocatalytic properties were examined under various experimental conditions and the band structure of Zn2GeO4 was revealed based on the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The DFT calculations showed that the top of the valence band (HOMO) was composed of the O 2p orbital, whereas the bottom of conduction band (LUMO) was formed by the Ge 4p orbital with a small contribution of the Zn-4s4p orbitals.

Article Abstract:
The effects of Rayleigh surface acoustic wave (R-SAW) upon the adsorptive and surface properties of a thin NiO film are studied. The unique feature of promotion of both adsorption and desorption by the SAW is associated with periodic lattice displacement, and a mechanism that the SAW interacts with the carriers in NiO is proposed.
