Matrix effect in the size distribution of fatty acid vesicles

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the cooperative mechanism of oleic acid/oleate vesicle formation. The Cary 1E UV/vis spectrophotometer was utilized to perform turbidity measurements while oleic acid/oleate veiscle samples were evaluated by electron microscopy. The vesicle samples were also analyzed by a fiber-optics-based spectrometer supporting an argon laser and a digital autocorrelator. Results suggested that the lag phase in autocatalytic processes correlated with the transition from micelles to vesicles.

Matrix effect of vesicle formation as investigated by cryotransmission electron microscopy

Article Abstract:

An investigation of matrix effect and the corresponding fission process of oleic acid/ oleate vesicles and mixed POPC/oleic acid/oleic vesicles is presented. By using methods like cryotransmission electron microscopy (cry-TEM) and entrapment of ferritin visualized by (cry-TEM) in initial performed POPC liposomes results show the formation of mixed vesicles with a new size and ferritin distribution.

Growth and transformation of vesicles studies by ferritin labeling and cryotransmission electron microscopy

Article Abstract:

The investigation of processes of growth and division of oleic acid/oleate and POPC/oleic acid/oleate vesicles and changes in the size distribution studied by cryotransmission electron microscopy is presented. The results indicate the growth of vesicles upon addition of fresh surfactant and also evidence of fission processes of larger vesicles that lead to a large number of small vesicles.
