Article Abstract:
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were well-functionalized to study their defect-derived luminescence properties. The nanotubes were dispersed in poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) films and the PVA films embedded with the SWNTs showed strong, highly polarized luminescence while the evaluation of stretched PVA films suggested that the excitation responsible for the luminescence was polarized along the nanotube axis.

Article Abstract:
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) are solubilized by attaching functional groups to the nanotube-bound carboxylic acids in the esterification and various amidation reactions. The effects of scattering on the accurate determination of absortivity are analyzed.

Article Abstract:
An investigation was conducted on the interactions of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with ferritin protein in water. The results indicated that SWNTs were naturally protein-affinitive in an aqueous ferritin solution.
