Article Abstract:
Experiments were conducted to characterize the effect of temperature on the phase behavior of 1-palmitoylglycerol and 1-hexadecylglycerol. Monolayers of both compounds which were derived from 1,2-diol were examined. X-ray and Brewster angle microscopic studies were performed to analyze the racemates of the compounds and the structure of the monolayers. Phase diagrams were constructed for both groups. The phase behavior of both groups were significantly affected by temperature. Condensed phases with centered rectangular structures with a nearest neighbor tilt were observed.

Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the properties of the human APO C-I monolayer. The pressure-area isotherm and direct observations of the monolayer were investigated using Brewster angle microscopy. A protein model is proposed which explains the second phase transition that seems to correspond to a conformational change in the protein. Results provide a new physical insight into the APO C-I structure and the way lipid binding activity could take place.

Article Abstract:
The effect of charge density in a polymer on the structure of a monolayer on water and on the thickness of the adsorption layer has been investigated. The interplay of interactions in the headgroup and the tail regions is one of the significant factors for the structure formation in a lipid monolayer.
