Article Abstract:
Kinetic studies of cationic surfactant uptake by anionic polymer gel membrane under various shear flow are conducted, varying the alkyl chain length of surfactant, the ionic strength of surfactant solution, and the charge density of gel. A linear relationship between the surfactant initial flux and shear stress is shown.

Article Abstract:
The frictional behavior of various types of hydrogels sliding on glass plates and Teflon plates in both air and water were investigated. These hydrogels are poly(vinyl alcohol) gel, gellan gel, poly(2-acrylamido-2methylpropanesulfonic acid) gel and its sodium salt gel. Results showed that the frictional force and its dependencies depend upon the chemical structures of the gels, surface properties of the opposing substrates and the measurement condition.
