Hydrogen-transfer reactions examined in the context of a sputtered ion mechanism for low-energy polyatomic ion-hydrocarbon surface collisions

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the thermodynamics of hydrogen transfer for a series of polyatomic organic compounds and their 2H-labeled analogues in the context of a sputtered ion mechanism. The mechanism involved the neutralization of incident ions through a charge exchange with the adsorbate, releasing sputtered ions which react with the neutralized incident ion to form the associative reaction product. Results demonstrate that gas-phase thermodynamic models are valid tools for understanding the mechanisms leading to ion surface reaction products.

Study of bulk and surface reduction by hydrogen of CexZr(sub 1-x) O2 mixed oxides followed by FTIR spectroscopy and magnetic balance

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate the bulk and surface reduction of hydrogen of mixed ceria-zirconia mixed oxides. Using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measures, it was found that the integration of the zirconium ions in the ceria lattice decreases the number of cerium ions by facilitating surface reduction and raising the oxygen mobility in the bulk.

Reactions of NH2 species with hydrogen and NO on the Pt(100)-(1x1) surface

Article Abstract:

Research into the reactions of the NH2,ads species with H2 and NO is presented. The NH2,ads amino species is produced during the titration of the Hads layer with NO on the unreconstructed Pt(100)-(1 x 1) surface at 300 K.
