GERMANY: ZINCOLI CLOSES ZINC DUST PRODUCTION

Article Abstract:

German Stollberg-based Zincoli is closing the production of zinc dust in December 2000. From January 2001 clients are to be served by Norwegian Larvik Pigment. Both companies belong to Normandy Mining Limited, an Australian gold producer, which wants to concentrate on its core operations. Normandy Mining had been looking for a buyer for the German facility, which is outdated and made a loss of more than DM 2mn in the last 12 months. Zincoli had planned to set up a new production plant in Eschweiler, which would have made it the world's most advanced producer. Zincoli held 60% to 65% of the German zinc dust market.
