Electronic structure of polycarbosilane studied by UV photoelectron spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted, by using the ultraviolet photoelectric spectroscopy, to examine the electronic structure of poly-(1,1,2,2-tetramethyldisilylenemethylene), [(SiMe(sub 2))(sub 2)CH(sub 2)](sub n), which consists of repeating Si-Si-C units. The broad peak derived from Si-Si bond orbitals in polycarbosilane suggests that Si-Si units still interact with each other, to form sigma-conjugation through the backbone.

Softened CH stretching vibration of a long-chain n-alkane, n-C44H90, physisorbed on a Ag(111) surface: An infrared reflection absorption spectroscopic study
Article Abstract:
A long-chain n-alkane, tetratetracontane (n-C44H90), adsorbed on Ag(111) is studied by infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy. The 'softening' of the CH bond in contact with the surface is explained by the interaction between the dipole and the image dipole induced in the metal substrate.

Structures of a long-chain n-alkane, n-C44H90, on a Au(111) surface: an infrared reflection absorption spectroscopic study
Article Abstract:
Vacuum-deposited films of a long-chain n-alkane, n-C44H90, tetratetracontane (TTC), on a Au(111) surface were investigated by infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy. Four different structures for TTC on the Au surface were found.
