Effects of zwitterionic vesicles on the reactivity of benzoyl chlorides

Article Abstract:

A systematic study was performed about the solvolysis reaction of substituted benzoyl chlorides in the presence of zwitterionic vesicles of dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC). For benzoyl chlorides with electron-donating groups, which react predominantly through a dissociative mechanism, which is strongly affected by medium properties, the rate constant decreases as the vesicle concentration increases.

In search of fully uncomplexed cyclodextrin in the presence of micellar aggregates

Article Abstract:

The chemical behavior of beta-cyclodextrin/nonionic surfactant mixed systems is investigated by using the basic hydrolysis of N-methyl-N-nitroso-p-toluenesulfonamide as a chemical probe. The variations in the hydrophobicity of the surfactant monomer have helped in determining the percentages of uncomplexed cyclodextrin in equilibrium with the micellar system that are in the range of 5-95%.

Changes in the fraction of uncomplexed cyclodextrin in equilibrium with the micellar system as a result of balance between micellization and cyclodextrin-surfactant complexation. Cationic alkylammonium surfactants

Article Abstract:

The study was conducted on the basic hydrolysis of m-nitrophenylacetate in mixed systems made up of trimethylalkylammonium miscelles and alpha or beta-cyclodextrin (CD). The results show that as the tendency towards miscellation increases, the percentage of the uncomplexed Cyclodextrin also increases.
